This is a pneumatically controlled distribution valve mounted on the transmission's top-cover shift mechanism. When the driver moves the gear shift lever laterally (such as when passing through the neutral zone between 4th and 5th gears), the valve is mechanically actuated to switch internal air circuits. It automatically supplies air to the auxiliary section cylinder, thereby enabling automatic switching between the transmission's high- and low-range gear groups.

Typically serving as a pilot control valve for the Double-H valve or as a specific air circuit protection valve, it stabilizes the air pressure supplied to the shifting system.
