Function

Applicable Location

2. Scope of function: It is the sole gear shifting control mechanism. Unlike the right-side door or other systems, it is specifically used to control the vehicle's forward movement, reverse movement, and gear changes.
Symptoms
1. Gear Shifting Difficulty/Inability to Shift Gears: If you find it difficult to shift gears, for example, requiring excessive force to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear, it is highly likely that the gears inside the gear shift lever assembly are worn or the locating pin is broken.
2. Abnormal Feel: If the gear shift lever "slips" (the gear doesn't engage and springs back), or if the operation lacks the previous clear "click" sound, it is usually due to a loose or worn internal locating pin.
3. Oil Leakage: Although the gear shift lever itself does not directly come into contact with oil, if the oil seal of the gearbox where it is located is poorly sealed, oil may seep into the assembly, leading to corrosion.
When replacing the part, be sure to check the base bolts (the bolts that secure the base to the transmission housing). If the base bolts are not tightened, it may cause the gear shift lever to be unstable.
