FUNCTION
1. Balances internal pressure in the axle housing: During vehicle operation, the gear oil inside the drive axle expands and its pressure increases due to friction, agitation, and temperature rise; the atmospheric pressure outside the axle housing is relatively low. This hose connects the axle housing's breather hole to the atmosphere, allowing hot air/gas inside to slowly escape, preventing excessive internal pressure from causing oil seals to be squeezed out, deformed, or leaking oil.
2. Prevents negative pressure water/dust ingress: When the vehicle cools down or goes downhill, the oil temperature inside the axle housing drops, and gas contraction creates negative pressure; the breather hose allows external air to enter, balancing the pressure and preventing a vacuum from forming inside the axle housing, which could allow humid air/muddy water to be sucked in through the oil seal gaps, causing gear oil emulsification, bearing/gear corrosion, or accelerated wear.
3. Expels moisture and water vapor: A small amount of condensed water vapor is generated inside the axle housing due to temperature circulation; the hose helps to slowly expel moisture, keeping the gear oil dry and clean, extending the life of gears, bearings, differentials, and other components.
4. Dust and water protection: The other end of the hose usually extends to a higher position and is often combined with the respirator cap or filter to prevent mud, dust and water droplets from directly entering the bridge housing.

Installation Notes
