FUNCTION

1. Power Input and Continuous Transmission: The countershaft directly receives engine power from the input shaft via a constant-mesh gear. The power rotates continuously on the countershaft, uninterruptedly driving a multi-stage transmission gear fixed on the shaft. These gears are always engaged with corresponding empty sleeve gears on the main shaft, forming a power "parallel channel" and providing the foundation for subsequent gear shifting.

2. Basis for Multi-Gear Shifting: In the dual intermediate shaft design of the HW19710T transmission, the countershaft shares most of the torque load, improving the overall load-bearing capacity of the transmission. When the driver engages a gear, the synchronizer/sleeve engages with the corresponding gear on the main shaft, and the power for this gear comes from the continuous rotation of the countershaft, thus achieving gear shifting. It supports an overdrive function, which reduces the output speed through an overdrive gear on the countershaft at higher gears, enabling low-speed engine operation during high-speed cruising, significantly reducing fuel consumption and noise.
