Function

1. Provides overpressure protection for the high-pressure system: As a mechanical safety valve for the high-pressure common rail fuel system, this pressure-limiting valve is installed at the end of the common rail or the outlet of the high-pressure fuel pump. When the system pressure abnormally rises above a set threshold, the valve core automatically opens against the spring force, quickly releasing excess high-pressure fuel back to the low-pressure circuit or fuel tank, instantly reducing the common rail pressure and preventing precision components such as high-pressure lines, injectors, and fuel pumps from bursting, deforming, or being permanently damaged due to overpressure.

2. Ensures system integrity: In the event of normal closed-loop control failure, such as high-pressure fuel pump overload, injector jamming, abnormal ECU signal, pressure sensor malfunction, or fuel contamination leading to pressure runaway, this valve operates mechanically and independently, without relying on electronic signals. It opens/closes directly through spring preload and fuel pressure balance. As a passive safety component, it prevents catastrophic failure of the fuel system under extreme abnormal conditions, avoiding sudden engine shutdown, fuel leak fire hazards, or damage from high-pressure component fragments.

3. Preventing the spread of cascading failures: The high-pressure common rail system operates at extremely high pressure. If overpressure is not released in time, it can cause a chain reaction of damage to the injector needle valve, seals, and high-pressure pipe joints, and may even lead to abnormal combustion in the cylinder, piston crown erosion, or crankshaft breakage.
