It is a low-pressure fuel supply component in the fuel system of Weichai engines. It uses an eccentric wheel on the engine camshaft to mechanically drive the piston inside the pump to reciprocate, so as to realize the continuous low-pressure delivery of diesel fuel from the fuel tank to the high-pressure fuel pump (injection pump).

FUNCTION

1. Reliable fuel supply from the fuel tank to the high-pressure pump: Establishes and maintains a low-pressure fuel circuit, continuously supplying diesel fuel from the fuel tank through coarse and fine filters to the high-pressure fuel pump. This ensures the high-pressure pump has sufficient diesel fuel, preventing dry suction, cavitation, or vapor lock, which can lead to insufficient engine power or stalling.

2. Manual pumping for purging and initial fuel injection: The pump body features a manual pump handle. After cold starts, prolonged parking, air in the fuel system, filter changes, or maintenance, the pump can be manually and repeatedly pumped to purge air and establish initial fuel pressure, helping the engine start quickly.

3. Prevents diesel backflow and maintains stable fuel pressure: Built-in one-way valve, return valve, and spring structure ensure unidirectional diesel fuel flow, preventing backflow or pressure loss after parking. Simultaneously, it automatically adjusts the fuel supply during engine operation, providing a stable flow rate in response to engine speed changes.

4. Improves starting performance and engine reliability: Particularly crucial in low-temperature environments, low-lying fuel tanks, long fuel lines, or high diesel viscosity. Installation location:

Mounted on the outside of the engine block, it is mechanically driven by the camshaft eccentric wheel, thus the pump body is directly fixed to the block. It is adjacent to the high-pressure fuel pump or connected via a short fuel line to the diesel fuel line from the coarse/fine fuel filter. It is directly or via a fuel line connected to the inlet of the high-pressure fuel pump to ensure that low-pressure diesel fuel is supplied to the high-pressure pump.

DETAILS

For routine maintenance, it is recommended to manually pump the oil pump 20-30 times before starting the engine cold or after a long period of parking, checking for resistance, smooth pumping pressure, and no oil leaks. After pumping, start the engine and listen for exhaust sounds (indicating air is being expelled). If the hand pump is difficult to operate, stuck, has no oil pressure, or the pump handle rebounds weakly, the piston/valve/seals inside the pump may be worn and require repair in advance.
