Function
1. Transmitting and distributing rocker arm thrust: The rocker arm applies downward thrust via an adjusting screw. This thrust acts on the upper contact surface of the exhaust valve bridge, and the bridge evenly distributes the single-point force onto the two exhaust valve stems.This ensures synchronous opening/closing of the two exhaust valves, preventing uneven combustion or valve erosion caused by premature/delayed opening of a single valve.
2. Ensuring uniform valve force and synchronicity: The bridge is designed as a rigid bridge structure with two precisely machined contact surfaces or grooves at the lower end, pressing against the tops of the two exhaust valve stems respectively. This prevents uneven loading, valve stem tilting, or valve disc wear caused by the rocker arm directly acting on a single valve.
3. Maintain valve clearance stability: In conjunction with the rocker arm adjusting screw, lock nut, and push rod, it maintains the exhaust valve's hot clearance. Wear or deformation of the axle will directly lead to changes in clearance → premature valve opening/late closing, air leakage, knocking noises, or insufficient compression. As a rigid transmission component, the axle ensures long-term stability after clearance adjustment.
