1. Generation and Release of Braking Force
When the driver presses the brake pedal, compressed air is delivered to the piston chamber inside the brake cylinder. The pressure of the compressed air pushes the piston inside the cylinder outward (or inward, depending on the cylinder type), which in turn actuates the brake fork or brake arm through a mechanical linkage.


When the brake pedal is released, the air pressure inside the cylinder decreases or is released. This change in air pressure causes the piston to return to its original position, releasing the pressure on the brake disc or drum, and allowing the vehicle to resume free rotation.

 

The air braking system is designed with a dual circuit (main circuit and handbrake circuit), ensuring that even if one circuit fails, the other will still function. This guarantees that the vehicle can be safely stopped under any circumstances.

 

2.The mechanical force is transmitted to the wheel braking device

The linear displacement generated by the air chamber piston is converted into rotational or sliding displacement of the brake fork. When the brake fork is pushed by the air chamber, it pushes the brake arm (push rod) on the wheel, which in turn presses the brake pad against the brake disc or brake drum.

 

As mechanical linkage components, they must withstand high-frequency impact loads. They are made from high-strength steel or cast iron, and designed with wear-resistant sliding surfaces or pins to ensure low friction coefficients and high strength even after prolonged use.
