Heavy Truck History

China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. ("China Heavy Duty Truck") is the earliest enterprise in China to develop and manufacture heavy-duty vehicles. It is currently the leading enterprise in the domestic heavy-duty automobile industry. The company's predecessor was founded in 1958, when it was called Jinan Automobile Manufacturing Plant. In April 1960, the factory produced the first heavy-duty vehicle in China, the Yellow River JN150 8-ton heavy-duty vehicle. It ended the history of China's inability to produce heavy-duty vehicles. In 1983, the state completely changed the "severe weight" situation of the automobile industry and solved the low-level development of the heavy-duty automobile industry. It established the China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, which is directly affiliated to the central government and is under the leadership of the State Council. In 1987, the national plan was implemented. In 1991, it was listed as one of the 56 national comprehensive pilot enterprise groups of the State Council. In 1993, it was approved as a pilot program for the authorization of state-owned assets. It is one of the first pilot enterprises in China to implement the authorization of state-owned assets. In July 2000, the State Council decided to implement reform and restructuring of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group. The main part was decentralized to the management of the Shandong Provincial Government. On January 18, 2001, a new China National Heavy Duty Truck Group was established, which is now a provincial-owned state-owned sole proprietorship. The company has a registered capital of RMB 97.58 million and paid-up capital of RMB 99.658 million. At the end of 2011, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group produced 150,000 vehicles, 130,000 engines, 140,000 gearboxes, 340,000 axles and 33,000 modified vehicles.
