Installation Position
1. Front: The center of the flywheel is secured directly to the rear flange of the engine crankshaft using high-strength bolts. It is positioned immediately adjacent to the rear crankshaft oil seal housing.
2. Rear: The rear face of the flywheel faces the clutch disc and the clutch pressure plate assembly.
3. Enclosure: The entire flywheel assembly is housed within the engine's flywheel casing; the induction-hardened ring gear on its outer circumference is aligned with the starter motor's drive gear.
Installation Notes
1. Alignment (Dowel Pin): There is an asymmetrically positioned dowel pin hole on the rear flange of the crankshaft. When installing the flywheel, ensure that the corresponding hole on the flywheel is aligned with the dowel pin on the crankshaft so that the components fit together perfectly. Never use excessive force or strike the parts to force them into place.
2. Pristine Contact Surfaces: Before installation, all contact surfaces-including the interface between the flywheel and the crankshaft flange, as well as the friction surface between the flywheel and the clutch disc-must be thoroughly cleaned with a degreaser to remove any oil, rust, or debris. The presence of even tiny particles (such as sand) or oil residue can cause excessive runout (wobble) at the flywheel mounting interface. This can lead to severe resonance at the rear of the engine, potentially resulting in crankshaft fracture or clutch slippage during operation.
