Workshop Replacement Procedures and Common Fault Troubleshooting
1. Rubber "Swelling/Softening" or "Hardening/Cracking": If a rubber hose feels excessively soft-like bread-when squeezed, or if its surface is covered in dense, fine cracks, it indicates the rubber has reached its fatigue limit (usually caused by prolonged exposure to temperatures above 100°C or corrosion from inferior antifreeze). Immediate replacement is mandatory; otherwise, there is a risk of the hose bursting and causing a breakdown while driving on the highway.
2. Do Not Apply Sealant: When fitting the hose onto the thermostat or radiator inlet/outlet, the manufacturer strictly prohibits applying thick layers of silicone sealant or adhesive to the connection interface. Once cured, sealant fragments can break off and enter the cooling system, easily clogging the heater core or the fine capillaries within the radiator. The correct procedure is to remove any rust from the connection point and then slide the hose on-either dry or lubricated with a small amount of antifreeze.
3. Hose Clamp Positioning: Heavy-duty clamps must be installed 5mm to 8mm from the edge of the hose and tightened on the inner side of the retaining flange (lip) on the metal pipe fitting.
